Jean Hoare formed the Warragul Stroke Support Group in 2015, after having a major stroke in 2012 that left her with permanent disabilities.
A fit and healthy woman and keen golfer and ladies captain prior to her stroke at the age of 67, Jean was told she would never walk again; but has thwarted this prediction and each day challenges herself to walk at least 5000 steps to keep her body moving.
Jean says that her stroke has not stopped her, and that whilst life might not be the same, there is life after stroke, and you can find your sense of purpose again.
Jean accessed support from other stroke support groups around the region including Morwell and Cranbourne groups before deciding to form the Warragul group, and remains grateful to members of these groups for their support and comradery.
